A good introduction

Everett Carver's "When Jesus Comes Again" is an excellent overview of biblical eschatology in general. One of its strong features is that a significant section (about a quarter of the book) is devoted to a discussion of the eschatology of the Old Testament. This includes not only the relevant passages in Ezekiel and Daniel, but also an overview of the Pentateuch, the historical and poetic books, and the other prophets.
In addition, the book contains two chapters on the Olivet Discourse as well as a chapter discussing Romans 9-11, and chapters devoted to 1 Corinthians, the Thessalonian epistles, and the Book of Revelation.
Carver's exegesis and arguments are detailed enough to provide a good analysis of the relevant texts without being so detailed as to be pedantic. The text throughout is readable and interesting. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to become acquainted with the major issues in biblical eschatology, one written from an amillennial/postmillennial perspective, as well as why this interpretation is to be preferred to that of premillennialism.
